Chuck's on a roll with standing, sitting up, holding his head up, looking about him and there are certain aides and nurses he really pays attention to. He is showing that Chuck Sandstrom countenance of enthusiasm when he works and he looked at himself in the mirror tonight with great interest.
Now we're going to need help with MY care. I feel I need to spend most hours of the day with him at this point and will be needing some daily relief so I can take care of business during business hours and I will likely need some overnight help too. I'm spending the night with him tonight, and, if it looks like that's going to wreck me, I'll need help so I can get home and sleep.
Progress is coming faster now. I cried for joy when Chuck did those squats today and the look on his face was animated and positive. He makes a motion now where with the lightest pull of his hand, I can help him sit up. I was able to get down next to the bed and put my arms around him today in a full, long hug. He and I are finding a rhythm together. We're going to come through. Have to hurry back now.
Need networks, volunteers to offer some relief with keeping Chuck safe in his bed when I have to be out.

ReplyDeleteI've been studying like crazy because it's finals week, otherwise I would have responded sooner.. but if you have anything you'd like to get done this Friday after 10am I would gladly come and give you some relief and stay with Chuck for a while if you like..

ReplyDeleteActually I just got back to Findlay, I'll be going down to Florida with my family tomorrow- we're staying for a week. I'm pretty excited :)
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to decide whether or not to go bungee jumping again while I'm down there..
But I'll be heading back up to Youngstown sometime between the 21st and the 23rd, so I'll let you know closer to then what day I plan on coming back and maybe there will be something I can do then..?
