Chuck Sandstrom Fundraising Appeal

As many of you know, on July 1, 2009 while tending to an Akron rental building, Chuck was violently struck in the head by an assailant over the towing of a vehicle and incurred a severe brain injury. Chuck has made great progress since the assault and 40 days in a coma, but there is much more to do.

According to studies, there is a 100% correlation between the quality of care and the quality of the outcome in Traumatic Brain Injured (TBI) patients. There is no limit to the extent to which individuals can be rehabilitated, but there are often limits to what insurance will cover.

We’re writing to ask you to support us in our grassroots efforts to provide Chuck a more aggressive and visionary rehab than insurance provides. We’re committed to getting his body back for him while his brain heals and supporting him beyond insurance-limited sessions of cognitive/speech therapy.

Care RequiredCost/session    through July
Adult day care$50$6,000
Cognitive/Speech Therapy$100$2,800
Strength Training$15$2,660
Massage Therapy$50-80$1,800
Tooth Implant & Restoration$4,300
TOTAL est. costs through 7/2010$17,560

Won’t you please help us support Chuck in his restoration this year by Praying and Passing the Hat? We have already received generous Passed Hat donations from Magic City Kiwanis, Hudson Clocktower Rotary, Akron Kiwanis and many individual donors totaling over $9,000 for which we are thrilled and grateful. Let’s keep Chuck’s program going full force!

Pray, pass the hat, and mail check to:

  2. We know...so sorry this was a "cut and paste" from the appeal letter. However the total out-of-pocket expenses are under where to send the donations.
