Small Miracle for the New Year 2013

Small miracle of healing New Year's Day 2013: Chuck wide awake at 7 a.m. talking about prison ministry vision and plans and ways to help lead our church. He said, "I've been thinking and praying..." The miracle of this is a definitive reappearance of what is called "executive function" or the ability to envision, plan, set goals, implement, work toward something. It's the last thing to return in a brain injury, and, for many people, it never returns. One thing we've seen with Chuck -- once something comes back, it stays back and gets better and better. We cheered when he opened his eyes. We cheered when he stood up with the help of 3 aides and a machine. We cheered when he first spoke. We cheered when he started driving. Now, we take it for granted. Well... the Chuck who plans and dreams and leads has made a definitive appearance today on his birthday and the first day of the New Year. Amen.
